I had a perfect 1-day tailor-made tour around Cairo organised by Jane and Sarwat. I was given a range of options and chose the places I wanted to visit.

Spirit of Egypt tours offers a flexibility which you really don’t get in ordinary package holidays where everything is too rushed. With Spirit of Egypt tours you have the luxury to choose where to go, and how long you can spend at each place, which means you can have a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxed experience. Sarwat is a very knowledgeable tour guide and has a professional attitude at what he does.

It was by far the best experience I have had, as I had my own personal tour guide! Jane and Sarwat are great people to spend your day with too! They are both lovely people and I enjoyed having lunch and coffee with them on the Nile. I would strongly recommend Spirit of Egypt tours to anyone who wishes to have a private or small-group tailor-made tour in Cairo or around Egypt. They offer you the opportunity to experience the diversity of this beautiful country at your own pace, while the quality of service is of very high standard!

Thank you very much Sarwat and Jane. I look forward to coming back again and organise more tours around Egypt!

We were greeted at Cairo airport by our tour guide/Egyptologist Sarwat and straight away felt a sense of ease and calm. With sheer excitement we arrived at the Mena House Hotel and were greeted by the hotel staff as though we were their only guests.

The first morning we looked out from our balcony and, with amazement, saw the silhouette of the Pyramids. It was like a dream come true. All those childhood wishes of being in Egypt and seeing the Pyramids – time stood still!

Our wonderful guide Sarwat was so accommodating, adjusting the schedule to meet the needs of our 10 year old. We felt safe at all times. The pace and variety of things to see and do kept everyone enthused and eager to start the next day of travel.

From the first day, cruising the Nile in Cairo on a felucca, and having Ahmed on the boat to sing and play the oud made us feel very special. We then visited the Al Azhar Gardens where we had the most wonderful lunch.

My highlights were: going to the Cairo Museum and fulfilling my childhood dream – I was in awe of it; sitting in the Bazaar and experiencing the Whirling Dervishes; seeing the Sphinx and entering the Great Tomb of the ancient Pharaoh. My family will never forget riding the camels at the foothills of the Pyramids.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Jane for organising such a diverse and wonderful tour, and thank you to Sarwat for being the most attentive, accommodating tour guide and knowledable Egyptologist.

In December 2012, my husband and I travelled to Egypt for a 10 day holiday of a lifetime. Having been warned by all our friends about the dangers of visiting Egypt in a time of political instability, we left Australia with some trepidation. We flew in to Cairo and immediately made our way south to Aswan where we took a 3 day cruise down the Nile which allowed us to take in many wonderful sites and Temples.  We also visited the White Desert and spent 2 days in Cairo exploring the pyramids.

Looking back, I realise just how special it was to have Sarwat and Jane as our tour guides, looking after us 24/7.  They are so knowledgeable and took care of every fine detail in such a professional way. I was so impressed at how well organised everything was. Having them meet us at the airport and put us back on the plane at the end of it, not having to wait around for taxis, being able to eat local food at places that had fabulous food that didn’t make us sick and being able to go places that other tourists don’t even know about made it very special.  At no time did we ever feel unsafe or in any kind of danger. Many of my friends ask me what was the best part of the trip.

I can’t choose one particular thing.  It was all so incredible.  Egypt is an amazing country and I feel very fortunate to have had the privilege to experience just a tiny bit of what it has to offer.”
